Shelter Night by the Wadden Sea

“The night when the sky comes to rest”

There is something special about falling asleep with the wind from the Wadden Sea in your body. To feel nature’s rhythm up close — and wake again to morning light above the sea dike, coffee over the fire, and the quiet sense of having been somewhere far beyond everyday life.

On this shelter night experience, you are invited to an overnight stay in the bristle huts (shelters) right by the dike. We meet at Vester Bjergvej 4, 6760 Ribe, where the shelters sit in the open landscape — close to the vastness of the Wadden Sea — and where there is access to toilet facilities.

We settle in, arrive gently, and let the body slow down to the pace of the place. There is very little to distract you here — only wind, sky, birds, and fire.

The evening begins with food cooked over the campfire, prepared together over the flames. We enjoy the sunset as the landscape shifts colour and the light slowly fades. When darkness falls, everything becomes quieter — and the senses sharpen. 🍃🦉🔥

If we are lucky, the starry sky opens above us. And in mid-August we may receive a special gift: the meteor shower, which reaches its peak at this time. Here, with an open horizon and deep night, we can watch the shooting stars like small sparks across the sky — a quiet reminder of how vast it all is.

We spend the night in the shelters, and when the sun rises again, we brew morning coffee and gather for breakfast around the fire. A calm ending, allowing the day to begin without haste.

Practical shelter night info

🏕️🌠🍳 Campfire meal, guided frame for the evening, meteor-shower experience (in clear weather), and breakfast will be provided.

🔥✨🌘 Stargazing/meteor shower depends on cloud cover — the experience still takes place with focus on fire, calm, and the atmosphere of the night.

🚽🚺 We will meet at the shelters by the dike where we will stay in bristle huts. There will be access to toilets there.

🔔 REMEMBER to bring: 💤🔦🧣🧤 warm sleeping bag, sleeping mat, torch/headlamp, warm clothing, hat and gloves (evenings can be chilly)!
